An hour from Calgary, the mountains do the rest

Every country has its mountain. Ours are the Rockies: clean air and cold water. In smoke season, “breathe freely” is not a metaphor here — it is a need.

Not scheduled. Retreats come after our first season, and only if it earns them. Register your interest and we will write if it happens.

A day on retreat

Slow, and mostly outside

  1. 07:00

    Dawn breath

Arrive and Breathe, facing the window.

  2. 08:00

    Breakfast

    Simple, warm, unhurried.

  3. 10:00

    A slow walk

Snowshoes in winter, forest trails in summer. No summit to reach.

  4. 12:30

    Lunch

  5. 14:00

    Rest

Your afternoon. Sleep, read, sit by the fire.

  6. 16:30

    The five passages

The full class, as the light goes.

  7. 18:30

    Dinner

    Mountain food, shared.

  8. 20:00

    Tea, and nothing after nine

Phones away. The night is yours.

What we plan to include

  • Two nights in a quiet lodge (shared or private room)
  • Two five-passage sessions a day
  • All meals and tea
  • Snowshoes or trail guiding
  • Transport from Calgary on request

Mandarin

A retreat guided in Mandarin

For Mandarin-speaking guests living in Canada or visiting the Rockies, we plan the same three days guided entirely in Chinese.

Later

Other mountains

After the Rockies: the forests of Japan, the Alps, Bali. Each place will be found slowly and taught by local teachers trained in the method.
